Banned or not banned…that is the question

Came across an article

Colorado Student Banned from Yearbook Over Racy Photo http://abcn.ws/xWIXxG (via @ABC)

I personally don’t think the photo is racy to merit a complete ban from the yearbook, just fashionable and overly sexy for a yearbook image.  Would I allow it for her picture on the alphabetical page… NO!  Paid for ad in the back.  Don’t know yet. I’m torn

Opinions?

Photo of the Day Challenge

Last year I did a photo of the day for the 2nd half of the year. No fancy camera, lighting or lens. Just creativity in raw form. My favorite images were from my simplest camera. Spending the last year working night and day on opening a studio killed that raw, creative time I loved dearly. I learned a valuable lesson: make time to let all knowledge based photography obsolete and turn on the visionary from within.

I challenge everyone to pick up their phones, pocket cameras or slr and start snapping.

Most photogs spend their time perfecting lighting ratios, composition and finding unique locations to make the client or future client impressed. By doing this dance with perfection many photogs lose the raw fun, creativity, sporadic and spontaneous side of photography that started their passion in the first place.

Get out there, shoot what you see with no agenda but to create and share.

I’m a Mac, not a PC, and bestcamera and Instagram are great iPhone apps to edit and share on Facebook, twitter or similar.
